Our family of four will be traveling to the Flumserberg region of Switzerland in Mid March of 2008. We will be staying in Flumserberg. With two kids, 11 and 13, we are looking for some suggestions for a day trip or two to Austria. We will be traveling by car and would like to visit some family friendly/scenic/historical areas in this part of Austria.
Any thoughts or suggestions? We also be posting questions like this for Germany and Lichtenstein too. |

I'm not a great lover of Switzerland as its so expensive and bueuractic. However, Austria and Germany are different. Try Salzburg, [particularly Hellebrun Palace] which is good fun - kids will love it, boat trip down the river Salchz. There's so much to do in Salzburg. Visit the Salt Mines at Hallelin which everyone will enjoy and Lake Konigssee. Also the Schwarz silver mines just outside Innsbruck. Linderhof Schloss in Bavaria is worth seeing.
In Switzerland about the only thing I can recommend is a trip to the top of the Jungfrau which is good, but very expensive.
