Posted: Sun January 20, 2008 11:57 AM UTC
Hi,

Can anybody tell mee if there is a official meetingpoint at the airport.
My wife arives a few hours earlier than I at the airport
so we have to meet eachother somewhere at the airport.

If there is not a official meeting point can you tell me if there is another point at the airport
that is obvious to meet .

thanx

I assume you are both arriving in the International terminal? The arrival area isn't very big, and the night we arrived it was quite crowded. There were only a couple of baggage claim carousels. I don't think you would want to wait there before going through Customs, however. After Customs there are a number of desks (maybe 10?) on the right selling tours, and one that sells taxi vouchers. Maybe you could just watch for her to come out of Customs, and if you miss each other you could meet near the booth selling taxi tickets. Hopefully someone can provide a better place, but that's my thought. (Having only arrived there once, in Dec '07...)

Outside of customs, on the opposite side of the booths selling tours and bus tickets, there is a waiting area, with chairs and a public phone. You are perfectly able to wait there. It is usually busy, as whole families come to meet relatives entering the country, but it is a good place to sit and wait. They have also several monitors listing the incoming flights, so you can keep track (sometimes they can be delayed due to high cloud cover). Good luck, and enjoy Ecuador.
