| Victoria | Victoria trip... Posted: Sat January 19, 2008 09:49 PM UTC
Hi, I am planning a trip to Victoria with my family and we are planning to stay in downtown Vancouver. We don't have hotel reservation yet but we want to see Victoria before we head back to Seattle, WA to catch the AMTRAK Train to San Francisco. What is the best way to get to Victoria and back and if you can give us some tips on how to go around tourist places and what transportation to use to go. Is AMTRAK bus station close by downtown Vancouver??? Any of your tips will be a big help to us. Thank you.

BC ferries website: http://www.bcferries.bc.ca/ You can find schedules/times for a ferry out to Victoria from the mainland. The ferries don't leave from Vancouver proper, but I believe there are buses you can take down to the harbour.

Why don't you take the Victoria Clipper to Seattle, and skip returning to Vancouver, to take an Amtrak bus. The Clipper is quite a bit more expensive than the bus, but you are in Seattle in around 3 hours. For Victoria travel: http://tourismvictoria.com & for the Victoria Clipper: http://www.clippervacations.com/ferry_schedule. Gary

Take a look at the following site: www.virginamerica.com. You can fly from Seattle to San Francisco in a few hours for roughly the same cost as a 23 hour train ride, with sleep accommodations, and a bus ride from Emeryville to San Francisco. If you travel from Vancouver to Victoria, take the Clipper from Victoria to Seattle, then fly from Seattle to San Francisco, you basically have given yourself another vacation day. Gary
