Kota Kinabalu From Kinabalu Park to Nexus Karambunai
Posted: Sat January 19, 2008 08:52 AM UTC
I am planning a 3D2N trip to KK, and I hope to cover:
1) Kinabalu Park (not going up to Mt KK)
2) Nexus Karambunai (first night)
3) Sutera Harbour (second night)

Would anyone know how much will a taxi cost from Kinabalu Park to Nexus? The distance looks nearer than Kinabalu Park-Airport on the map, but the travel time is still 45 minutes according to my research.

If it's too far maybe I'll forget about Nexus - is it REALLY worth going all the way there?

Thanks heaps.

Hi there! To answer your question on the fare cost from Kota Kinabalu to Nexus Karambunai, it should be around USD20-USD30. Sadly to say, the taxis here do not use meters and usually take advantage on tourists. Yes, it is nearer to go to Nexus from Kinabalu Park as opposed to Sutera Harbour Resort which is situated in the heart of the town.

However, I would actually recommend you to stay at Nexus Karambunai for one night and enjoy the scenery, the nature and the blue sea. However, if you're willing to fork out the same amount of money for Sutera Harbour Resort, please do not expect the same level of service as it is not amounting to the amount that you pay and the restaurants are just awful! If you insist of staying in the city, I'd recommend Shangri-La Tanjung Aru as they have great restaurants that is still alongside the beach.

Don't forget to check out @mosphere, Yayasan Sabah (it is on the way to/from Nexus Karambunai)-Sabah's first revolving restaurant.

And oh, Little Italy Italian Restaurant too. It's the best in town!

Hi there, it's that too far actually. If you're from Kinabalu park then it won't be much of a problem as you will pass Nexus to get to the city. And Sutera Harbour is right beside the city. Haggle for the taxi price as the taxi do not usually use meter in KK. Instead of Sutera Harbour, why not stay at Le meridien hotel. Much more accessible to the city, it is right in the city it self,
