Isla de Fuerteventura Suggestions for a good hotel for lazy parents & teens who want to surf/boogie board, please!
Posted: Fri January 18, 2008 08:39 PM UTC
It's a nightmare trying to meet everyone's expectations when all I want from Fuerteventura is to sit and relax with a few good books under a parasol by the pool.

Spouse wants to explore and keep one eye on any good European football matches on any nearby TV and eat good food.

Eldest 20something son wants to boogie board, swim, volleyball etc and watch the girls go by...

Younger sweet-sixteen, teen son wants to boogie board, try to surf, snorkel, swim, volleyball, watch footie with dad and watch older brother watching the girls go by so he can laugh!

I'm looking for a good B&B or half-board hotel with nice pools, nice food, TV that shows footie, and that is close enough to a beach with some learner size waves.... Oh... and a parasol for me, please!

Hi!

I reckon ANY of the small hotels in Corralejo would be fine for all your family. The beaches are never far away! 'Flag Beach' by the Dunes would suit the more adventurous, water-sporty types, and you could laze on a sunbed or by the hotel pool for hours - but it's REALLY windy there! There are two hotels/apartments there, both run by the Riu company.

In Corralejo itself there's loads of hotels and villas catering for all sizes of groups and famillies, with and without pools. You're bound to find something suitable!

Chuck a stone in any direction and you'll hit a bar showing footie and all the British soaps. Showing the football seems to be a religion in Corralejo! Some bars wvwn advertise that they don't even have a telly to cater for the rest of us! :-D

Sorry I can't name any specific hotels. We stayed at the Oasis Papagayo and although we loved it, it isn't really ideal for teenagers. It caters more for young famillies. If you do go there, go self-catering - do not eat the food! Yuk!!!

Go to the tourist office and a place called Whereabouts under the Hoplaco Gardens arch in the main street. There you'll find all the info on scuba diving, deep-sea fishing and surfing you could want! (Whereabouts is run by friendly Brits :-D )

Hope that helps,
Em
