Cardiff Spending summer in Cardiff
Posted: Fri January 18, 2008 11:57 AM UTC
Myself and a couple of friends are thinking of working for the summer in Britain. There're a few cities we are considering going to and to help us narrow our (very long list) I was just wondering if anyone would like to offer some input as to whether or not Cardiff would be a good choice for the summer.
We'd be looking for somewhere where
- Job availibility won't be a problem
- A decent nightlife for 20 year olds
- Cheap cost of living, or at least, not expensive
- There's a nice amount of touristy things to do.

Edinburgh, for example, is exactly the kind of place I'm looking for, but I've already visited it, so would like to try somewhere new

Really, REALLY appreciate feedback!

i think cardiff is a good choice. The students should have left, so jobs shouldnt be a problem. There is a large choice of nightlife and plenty of places to visit in the area, such as castles, beaches, mountains etc.
Cost of living is probably much the same as anywhere, we have Lidl and Aldi for cheap foods etc.

We'd be looking for somewhere where
- Job availibility won't be a problem = Lots of casual work in bars etc.

- A decent nightlife for 20 year olds = Cardiff is rated amongst the best for nightlife, so no problem. Bring ID as many clubs insist on you being over 21.

- Cheap cost of living, or at least, not expensive = Cheap? Not cheap to stay in as rents are high. Most everything else is same as rest of UK, except taxis! Give them a wide berth, a big time rip off.

- There's a nice amount of touristy things to do. = A summer wont be long enough. Don't go looking for a beach though. cardiff doesn't have one but there are plenty within a bus ride.
