| Siena | Siena or Panzano or somewhere else?? Posted: Thu January 17, 2008 04:31 PM UTC
We are spending 5 days in Tuscany in May for honeymoon and cannot decided where to base ourselves. We would like somewhere not too busy and someone we can relax, but a town with a bit of activity - restaurants and few bars. We do not want to stay in Florence or Pisa. Friends have recommended Siena or Panzano and now cannot decide which.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks |

Congratulations. In my opinion it is a no brainer. Stay in Siena and go visit Panzano for the day. Siena is a magical place. There are great resturants, bars and great art. Even better are all the back streets and neighborhoods you can explore. It is a town build on three hills, but easy to walk.

It depends, do you prefer a town or a village? Siena is a town and so comes fully equiped with restaurants bars etc, Panzano is a village on a hill top with a 360 degree view.
Will you be travelling with a car? If you wont then maybe its best that you stay over in Siena and then take the public transport to Panzano and visit it. If you have a car well i'd opt for Panzano, you cant get any more romantic than that. Five min from there you have other villages to visit: Greve in Chianti, Monte Fioralle, Castellina in Chianti..........

First of all congratulations! If you're looking for the perfect place to spend your honeymoon take a look on my travel pages and see if "Locanda La Pietra" is not the perfect place to be in the most romantic period of your life as new weds ;-)
The place is beautiful, romantic and relaxing and by car you can visit the Terme of Saturnia, and some other beautiful typical Tuscan places.
