you could take a National Express coach
there are several each day take between 5 and 6 hours and costs about £23 train will be quicker but probably much more expensive the main pick up is probably Victoria coach park but there may be other pick ups to choose from

www.nationalexpress.com will give you coach times and fares: you should should book your seat ahead to be sure of a seat, either online or at an agent/coach.
www.nationalrail.co.uk will give you train times and fares. There is no need to book ahead, although fares are cheaper this way. National Express is the train service, not the coach. Coaches do not usually pick up elsewhere: they run from point-to-point. Local buses pick up at several points on their routes. 'Buses' are for short-distance travel in the UK, 'coaches' are for long-distance. Coaches are usually cheaper than trains, but the journeys are slower and vulnerable to traffic delays.

Leics - National Express now run the trains too from London to York - they took over the franchise from GNER - I wonder if they will align coach and train fares!

No! I got on one of their trains by accident and had to pay an extra £71!
Anyway: Megabus is cheap. They can get you to London or Wakefield where I live, then a quick train or regional bus. http://www.megabus.com/uk/ Have a great time!
