www.nationalexpress.com will give you coach times and fares: you should should book your seat ahead to be sure of a seat, either online or at an agent/coach.
www.nationalrail.co.uk will give you train times and fares. There is no need to book ahead, although fares are cheaper this way.
National Express is the train service, not the coach.
Coaches do not usually pick up elsewhere: they run from point-to-point. Local buses pick up at several points on their routes. 'Buses' are for short-distance travel in the UK, 'coaches' are for long-distance.
Coaches are usually cheaper than trains, but the journeys are slower and vulnerable to traffic delays.
