| State of Rajasthan | Backpack or wheel case for India Posted: Tue January 15, 2008 04:29 PM UTC
I have a doubt on my upcoming trip to India: backpack or wheel case? I´ve always find more convinient wheel case than backpack on my trips (including those to desert zones in middle east), those wheels are a gift when tired and hot, but on India I´m doubting. What were your experiences? is a case with wheel too uncomfortable for buses and trains?

I don't think taking a case would be much of a problem. I went with a backpack and I assure you it was very hot and I would've appreciated a case with wheels many times!!! I don't think there would be any problems on buses or trains. The buses, though a bit dodgy, are just like any other travel bus, your luggage is put in the boot with everyone elses. Watch out though!! They'll charge you for it when you get off the bus. And as for the trains (I only ever took sleeper class and had no problems despite what the books and rumours said) there is space under the seats to store luggage and poles that you can lock it to.
So I don't see why a case would be a problem at all!

I've travelled all across India on every type of transport with a wheeled suitcase...no problems!

wheel case definitely as they are more hardy and can be taken anywhere. backpacks arent good for longer journeys and can be ripped of by blades and things stolen from it.
a sturdy wheelcase definitely happy travels
