| Ko Samui | Accommodation in Ko Samui Posted: Tue January 15, 2008 10:32 AM UTC
Can anyone tell me anything about any of these resorts?
Baan Rom Mai, Shambala Beach Bungalows, Moonhut Bungalows Any other recommendations for comfortable, cheap accommodation would be welcomed. My boyfriend and I will be there in mid february. How difficult would it be to get accommadation around that time? |

Hello
For me I would first decide which part of Samui I would like to stay then take accommodation from there. The 3 you mention are in different parts of Samui. Ban Rom Mai is at Chaweng which is the hub of Samui. It has the best beach, pretty much everything you would need for shopping, eating & entertainment hence why it is the busiest & most popular spot on Samui. Shambala is at Big Buddha Beach & Moonhut at Maenam. Both these areas are pretty quiet & ok but your eating shopping & entertaiment options are limited without transportation. I personally like Chaweng & the southern end in particular but Chaweng these days is getting very difficult to find & recommend accommodation in your price range. Here`s a relatively new place opened in Chaweng www.embassysamui.com looks ok off the web site & is very well located. You might want to research the Lamai Beach area of Samui,it has plenty of accommodation in the price range you are looking at. As far as accommodation in Mid feburary goes..Feb 7 is the start of the Chinese New Year which is normally a busy time on Samui so it might pay to book something in advance but having said that you will always find somewhere to stay on Samui but where that might be or the standard is anybodies guess. Hope this helps Jamie

I know it's late but we stayed at Moonhut Bungalows 5 years back (before they did it up), and it was fantastic. Get the beachfront bungalow if you can.
