Can someone please tell me how long would it take to travel by train from Alexandria to Cairo and would it be best to stay the night in Cairo?

It will depend on the type of train you'll be taking between the two cities. The fastest train will take around 2:30 minutes and some will take 3 or 4 hours. What kind of hotel are you looking for?

how are you? i will give you some information about train from Alex to cairo i wish to help you ... the fast train take 2 hours..and it's cost 20 pounds and it not stop in any place after going from alex .. the second one take from 4 : 5 hours... and it cost 5 10 pounds may be.. and if you want anyhelp just call me at +20168551667 Zizo

Hi there
A direct train takes about 2 hours. Distance is about 230 Km. Time table 7 am, 8 am, 12 noon, 2 pm etc. There are other three stops Banha/Tanta/Damanhour with some minutes more. You can consider the trip ranging between 2-3 hours by Aircnoditioned Diesel. (called locally Torbine, French or Spanish train). By desert road pulmans takes about 3-4 hours. Welcome to Egypt. Sayed

I would add as well that desert road is 238 Km. Maximum driving speed allowed is 100 km/h

I used to drive frequently at the Desert Highway at 120 km/hr and was never caught by police. AT what spped do the police fine you? thnaks

Cairo Alexandria Delta Road 90 Km/hr Cairo Imsailia 100 Alexandria Matrouh 100 Rest are 60 - 90 Km per hour Wish you ever safe rides, travels and flights. Best of luck
