| Panglao Island | any cheap overnight stay in dumaluan? Posted: Tue January 15, 2008 06:11 AM UTC
Hi All!!! I find this forum very helpful. I am planning to have an island tour on my first day in Bohol and I'm looking for a cheap accommodation for 1 night in Dumaluan. I can't find one on the net. Is it ok if I just look for a place in Dumaluan after my island tour? Or should I book as early as possible? I found Citadel Alona to be the cheapest but it's in Alona. Is it too far from Dumaluan? Thanks for all your help :)

I see that you prefer Dumaluan than Alona. Wala lang, I cant help you, hehe. Go to Alona na lang and you'll find more choices and wider range of accomodation. If you will, try Bohol Divers Lodge. :)

Hi, thanks for your reply. It's not that I prefer Dumaluan. Actually it's my first time to go to Bohol. But from what I have read and heard kasi, they find Dumaluan more beautiful. Though, I see that Alona offers a wider range of accommodations on the net.
One thing more, I have planned to stay in Bohol Beach Club for 1 day, but it seems that I need to change my itinerary coz I also want to have at least one day in Cebu. With my limited time, I may not stay anymore in BBC kasi hindi ko masusulit yung bayad hehehe. So, should I chose Bohol Diver's Lodge instead? Any other place to stay that you can recommend for me at the most reasonable price is greatly appreciated :)

did the same last year: 1N/1D in cebu and 3D/2N in bohol. yup i suggest you try bohol divers lodge. or you may survey the area first (maligsi lang naman alona) before deciding on bohol divers.

You are such a great help Nimato :) We might as well stay in Diver's Lodge. By the way, since we need to spend a day in Cebu, what are the places you recommend that we can have a look? Also, what's the reasonably affordable place to stay in Cebu, maybe near to the ferry terminal going to Bohol? Thanks a lot.

the beach and waters of dumaluan is better for swimming and dipping because its sandy and flat, without too much corrals near the beach. Alona area waters is good for snorkelling and diving. but its less crowded during weekends.

Hey Bongski, thank you so much. We have changed itinerary to have a 1day/1night stay in Cebu City, and we might as well stay at Bohol Beach Club. That is, if there is still available room as it seems that it's already fully booked :-s
By the way, we will be arriving in Bohol early Feb. 08 and we want to take the day tour right away. Is it necessary for us to book the day tour? If yes, where should we take a reservation or booking? I checked on the net and BBC tour is quite expensive compared to other resorts. Thanks for your help.

In Cebu, visit the ff:
Uptown Cebu -- Beverly Hills' Taoist Temple Downtown Cebu -- Basilica Minore del Santo Nino & Magellan's Cross, nearby (walking distance) Cebu Cathedral & Fort San Pedro Cebu City is relatively small, every spot is just a jeepney ride or two. Just ask the peeps around, ganun lang ginawa ko, ahehe.. Btw, ingat sa Colon street when riding a jeepney. The first time I got there, naisnatch kwintas ng co-passenger ko na babae.. tsk tsk! Its' true that Dumaluan is more 'beachy' than Alona. However, I like its ambiance better. Neither beaches are for snorkelling kase wala namang corals and fishes sa panabi. However, I highly recommend to include in your sea tour snorkeling at Balicasag Island -- AWESOME!

Eyya nimato, thank you for the informations. I have actually searched some of those spots you mentioned. Need to add some though. Is Balicasag quite near to Tawala or Bolod? We may have not enough time to travel. I still cannot seem to settle everything as Bohol Beach Club and Bohol Diver's are already fully booked :(
How can we have a countryside tour in Bohol? An suggestion please? Thanks a million.

By the way, what is the usual time to start and finish a countryside tour in Bohol?

Balicasag island is on the side of Tawala in Panglao. I rode a Tawala-bound jeep from Tagbilaran (near Island City Mall) when I went to Alona. The jeepney will pass by Dumaluan before Alona.

Sorry I could not recommend anything for a day tour package. I am the one who usually tours my vistors around bohol when I lived in Tagbilaran for more than 5 years.
But as to the beach area, I did my PADI course through Bohol Divers in Alona, and we used their in house reef right in front of the resort for the dive lessons. Westward of Dumaluan towards Blue sky, there are also corral reefs where I snorkelled and did some diving. If you go far enough to the sea in front of dumaluan there will also be corrals and colorfull fishes around. balicasag is best for diving and snorkelling enthusiasts and not for ordinary swimming since the reef is very near the beach, and the bottom drops sharply like a cliff after just 10-20 meters from the beach in front of the Balicasag Resort. But the corral and fish variety are plentifull and parang cine ang dating when snorkelling and diving bong
