Tajikistan Travel Forum

In march I intent to travel from Almaty in KZ to India but ideally I would like to avoid going through China. Is it possilbe to go Almaty- Kyrgzstan-Tajikistan-Wacan-Pakistan-India?
Is there a border crossing through the Wacan Valley?

Hi Paul,

oh well, this is a very good question!! And the situation seems to change quite rapidly since the last months.
I was checking Wakhan - Pakistan border crossings, as I had planned to hike in Wakhan and cross into Pakistan at Borghil. Mid last year it seems to be impossible to get permissions for the crossing, the Afghan embassy is also not able to answer this question.

But since recently (some weeks), we always find more information about trekking agencies who seem to manage the crossing, like this here, based in UK:

Thanks for the info. I've had that question up for weeks now and had almost given up on getting a reply.

I am actually interested in the same route.........so if any other info is available please let me know. I am in Uzbekistan at the moment....and have just secured my Kyrg Visa. So anyways........The Tajikistan-Pakistan-India overland route looks awesome.
