Pulau Pangkor Travel Forum

From Thailand (Ko Lipe)I have to go to Malaysia for a short time, just to stamp out/in. What is the best and cheaper of the two islands? I look for clear water and nice atmosphere and I do not want to spend much. Could anybody advise?

Welcome to Malaysia. Frankly saying, if you really want to enjoy the beautiful clear water beach, you should go for east coast of malaysia. Pangkor and langkawi is west coast, most of the area has been polluted. Langkawi is not beautiful as Pangkor, but the fees of expenses is cheaper than Pangkor.
I give you a few suggestion for the accomodation and transport.

1. for visit langkawi, you can check this website: www.airasia.com.my. you can check from travel services - http://reservations.bookhostels.com/airasia.com/?SubID=false&Language=English&SetOrderBy=price . Hotels rate is available there. Airasia now providing the cheapest air ticket and cheapest hotel rooms. About the transportation, you can rent a car (kancil model - the smallest car in malaysia) for around RM 60 - RM80/day.

2. for visit pangkor. There is 2 islands, 1 is Pangkor Island, another 1 is Pangkor Laut Island. they are neighbour. the different of these 2 island is very big. Pangkor island is much more cheaper than pangkor laut island, but you must understand that pangkor laut island is one of the unpolluted islands in the world, beautiful carol, peace and clear water. maybe you can check online for this place, if you interested Pangkor laut, the package price will be around RM 1000 - RM 1500 for about 3 days 2 nights (this place is best for honey moon). For Pangkor Island, you can check the hotel price and map at the belows state website.

Langkawi will be much nearer to Koh Lipe than Pangkor. It is as mentioned above, also cheaper. Another plus is there are much more things to do in Langkawi than Pangkor. Cheap liquor too since it is a free port! Langkawi does have some beautiful sceneries (Langkawi is a cluster of many islands).

I'm agree with melanie.. Langkawi is nearest to Kok Lipe then Pangkor.. From Langkawi to Pangkor it's take about 5 hours if you go by bus.. Langkawi is the beatiful island.. A lot of activities you can do it in langkawi.. but you have more careful with the car rental sometime their offer a cheap price but the car condition is very bad..
