| Granada | Transportation to hostal from the rail station Posted: Mon January 14, 2008 02:36 AM UTC
Need some help to figure out a way from the train station to our hostal at C/Rosario near the cathedral. We will be coming in ~8:20PM from Ronda. What would be the best way to get to our hostal. I would prefer to take a taxi. But I read somewhere that the streets may be closed for traffic. Will it be easy to find a taxi late in the evening and how much might the fare be? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi! Taxis run through the day and night, So You shouldn't have any problems. My last visit to Granada was in October 06, and there was a problem with road works, but I was told this would soon be sorted.
When are You travelling to Granada? My first visit in May co-incided with a big festival, so my taxi had to do a diversion. One of my friends is in Granada this weekend, So I'll find out if there are any problems with the traffic and update You. Another option might be getting a bus from the station to Gran Via Colon - According to my guide book, You walk out of the station and catch a bus on Avenida de la Constitucion. Buses4, 6, 7, 9 and 11 heading East (or right) From the Cathedral on Gran Via de Colon - facing the Christopher Columbus statue, turn right onto Calle Reyes Catolicos, cross the road and You'll come across Plazza Isabel La Catolica, with the Town Hall. Continue forward along Navas - a great street for tapas/ bar hopping. When You cross the narrow road, You're on C/ Rosario. I stayed in a hostal here - probably the same as You are booked into - Hostal Costa Azul? It's a 5 min walk from the Cathedral to here. Hope this is of some use to You. Please feel free to contact me for more info. Best Wishes, Sue

Shouldn't be a problem getting a taxi from the station to the hotel. The were a huge renovacion of Gran Via (main street where the cathedral is located) for a long time, but that is over now. The street is closed for trafic durring the day, but that does not include taxis nor buses.
It is also quite easy to take one of the buses from the trainstation to the cathedral, and it would be cheaper. The bus is about 1 Euro, and I would expect the taxi to cost you a little less than 10 Euro. Have fun!
