Seattle Cool Neighborhoods???
Posted: Sun January 13, 2008 04:25 PM UTC
We're looking for nice, safe and cool (not necessarily hip and trendy with those trendy bistros and chic boutiques...ha)...neighborhoods in the Seattle area where we intend to rent a small apt/studio for a couple of months to get a feel for the energy of the area. Our intent is to relax and be within walking distance or public transportation of most everything.

Example...we've done similar quests in Greenwhich Village,NYC, St. Augustine,Fl, Belmont Shore, CA, North Beach area of San Francisco...etc.

Any suggestions???

My favourite 2 neighbourhoods in Seattle are Queen Anne and Capitol Hill. I have no idea what rentals are available there but if you can find something decent, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

West Seattle/Alki Beach would be another fun area to stay. Alki has a bunch of good restaurants and has a bus route to downtown Seattle as well as a water taxi.

This area is a little more low key than other neighborhoods in Seattle. You might find it has a more communal feel.

I know of a small house right on alki that rents by the night, week, month. If you are interested I might be able to get a little more information about it for you.

Hi,

Sorry it's taken so long to respond and thank you for you input. I am considering a short trip to the Seattle area at the end of May...4-7 days. I'd be interested in hearing more about that house for rent that you mentioned if it's still available.

Also, besides Alki Beach, which I checked out and looks great. Where else would you suggest a first time visitor to the area stay...kinda centrally located and not requiring a rental car.

Thanks again!
