| Seoul | help: Seoul with 2 toddlers! Posted: Sun January 13, 2008 05:19 AM UTC
We are traveling for the first time to South Korea, and with children (4 and 2yo) and would appreciate any help on where families are welcome to stay! We are not fussy, as long as we can get there easily from ICN at 8.30pm and stay only 2 nights!
Also if there are any comments on the cable car? (my son loves those!) or accessible fun things for small children? |

What time of year are you going? A better question is what is your budget? How are your kids with crowds? Since you are a family of 4, your best way to get from the airport would be by bus. That said, where you stay depends on budget. Seoul is HUGE; close to as many people live in Seoul as in all of Australia. Everywhere is pretty much family friendly except maybe the entertainment districts. I as well had two toddlers while living in Korea so there is a lot to interest them. Since you only have 2 days and want ease of travel, I would suggest Lotte World (mostly indoors) for one of your days and perhaps maybe the Everland, (Korea's answer to Disneyworld), but getting to it is a little involved. Can't tell you much about the cable car...I assume you mean the one in Myongdong. Check out this site to get an idea of what might interest your kids:

| Seoul | May in Seoul Posted: Mon January 14, 2008 12:48 AM UTC
Thank you Al for your info! I really appreciate it! we're going at the very start of May. Our budget is low... about $500 Aussie for the stay. I'm looking into guest houses...I see no where any mention of children being welcome or not! It reassures me to see that you were there with toddlers too! We're not the only crazy ones out there!

Cable cars:
1. Namsan (Seoul) Tower. Chungmuro Station (line 3 and 4) exit 1 (in front of Daehan Cinema), Dongguk Univ. Station (line 3) exit 6. It's a taxi ride up (won't dent your 500 budget!) or you can hike it, weather and kid's stamina permitting 2. Children's Grand Park (subway: line 4, the light blue line, Seoul Grand Park Station), there's a zoo there, hiking, attractions, lots of space. As for accommodation, check out guest houses, (i have zero info on them) or (god forbid) a "love" motel, to see it they can put up a couple of toddlers. If you have a sleeping bag, or are able to all bunk down on a huge bed (wink wink) they are surprisingly clean and an excellent value. They are everywhere. Just look for the blue and red flaps hanging down over the carport (to give privacy to the incoming and outgoing "travellers"). Again, clean, great showers, sauna, TV, internet, (you can sometimes see a photo of the rooms outside the motel), and all for about 40-60 dollars a night. unbeatable.
