Hi

My boyfriend has been sent to Bardefoss for work for 7 weeks. I'm hoping we'll get a chance to meet up for a weekend soon but I'm having a hard time trying to work out where BARDEFOSS is in Norway in comparision to everything else and whether its worth us meeting up in Bardefoss or if its better for us to stay in another town? Can someone help? Would you recommend Bardefoss? Or is there another town nearby I could fly to (from London) and one that would be easy for him to travel too? He doesn't know the place at all so can't advise. All I know is that its up north somewhere and too far away from Oslo so we can't go there.

Bardufoss? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bardufoss If you mean Bardufoss, that's a small place in northern Norway (a couple of hours by car from Tromsų) - mainly known because of the military base situated there. Have only driven through Bardufoss a few times - didn't really think it was worth stopping there.. ;o) (But I *have* been to Polar Zoo outside Bardufoss, which is rather nice - more info on my Troms County page if you're interested)

www.norwegian.no has just started direct flights to Tromsų from London, and your bf could quite easily travel to Tromsų by bus from Bardufoss. There are also flights to Bardufoss from Oslo.

Tromsų is, of course, a much bigger town (pop ca 60 000) - the largest town in northern Norway - and well worth a visit. Feel free to check out my Tromsų pages here on VT for more info (I currently live in Tromsų).

Did you go to Bardufoss, what was it like? I have to go to work in Nov and would like some advise if availiable.
