Brian, with two cases and a rucksack I would not take the bus option. A lot of luggage in a bus station makes you vulnerable. When you arrive at the airport and after you collect your luggage, you will see some desks inside the customs area just before you leave it. You can book a safe taxi there. The cost will be US$100 but it is nearly a two hour ride. What you might do is go on a forum like Cruise Critic and find others doing the same route the same day who might share the cost of the ride. Ask them how much luggage they have. :-)

Many thanks for the suggestion but as you say its very expensive by taxi. You say I may be vunerable with my 2 suitcases if on a bus, if I were to pack just one and a rucksack would the bus be ok or is there a Metro I could take instead.
I do believe there are taxi's that share would one of these be suitable. Your help is much appreciated. Brian

Even with two suitcases taking the bus to Valparaiso should not be so much of a problem. Just keep your bags in sight the whole time. You can get a taxi to the Las Rejas subway station where buses leave for Valparaiso. Once you are there then take a taxi to the cruise port. It is posssible to walk, but with luggage it is just that much too far.
