I wish to travel from mainland Italy (Reggio di Calabria) to Sicily with a car on a Saturday in July. I wish to book in advance to save problems. Is this the best way and if so which company should I contact?

You don't have tro go to Reggio Calabria, you have to take the ferry at Villa San Giovanni. There's plenty of companies but I don't know if you can book in advance... I don't think so and when you'll do the trip from Salerno to Villa you'll understand why!!
