Every day is "Dutch Day" in the Netherlands! I presume you are talking about Queen's Day on 30 April, which is a public holiday. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koninginnedag.

Are you talking about the "Open European Quilt Championships" (see http://www.oeqc.eu/indexen.php?i=1)? This year, the event is moving back to Veldhoven (which, to be fair, is just a few kilometers away ;-) ).

Have you been in the past? We attend (well, my wife is the quilter) the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas, every year, and I am curious how Europe does it...

Early May...
well, 30th of April is Queens Day and if you can, try to get to Amsterdam to celebrate.
4th of May is Memorial Day and May 5th is Liberation day (all to do with WWII).

Also, during that time there are 2 weeks school holiday. Tourist attractions will be busier.

April 30 Queensday (Public Holiday)
May 1 Ascension Day (Public Holiday)
May 2 In much companies a compensation day off
May 3/4 weekend

So, expect a lot of Dutchies celebrating a loooooooooong weekend.

Queensday is freemarkets al over the country and other local festivities; public transportation ending up in chaos after busy events end (depending on the weather).

ah yes, I forgot about Ascension Day. That means that 12 May is a Bank Holiday also, because that's Whitsun.

hi Manovwar,
your train from Schiphol to Eindhoven does not pass by Amsterdam. It's a direct train via Utrecht, which is a different direction. Costs 18,30 euro (one way)
So you should buy a ticket Schiphol to Eindhoven VIA Amsterdam. Costs 19.90 euro (one way). Or, if going to Amsterdam on your way back, then a ticket Eindhoven-Schiphol VIA Amsterdam.
