| Montreal | Daytrip to The Laurentians Posted: Wed January 9, 2008 06:02 PM UTC
Hello,
We're a Spanish couple that is going to be in Montreal from the 25 to the 29 of May and one of the things that we want to do is going one day to The Laurentians. I was checking and there's a lot of places to visit, the problem is that we have not so much time, so we have to choose and we have no idea about what can be the best places to visit. So any advise about this matter will be very helpful for us. It will be also great to have some information about how to arrive there, it's better to rent a car? Or we can go by train or by bus? Thanks a lot! |

Hi!
If you only have one day, I would suggest going to Mont-Tremblant, Saint-Sauveur or the Oka National Park. It all depends on what you prefer to do: Mont-Tremblant is a fairly large resort town, and in May you'd have access to hiking trails and other outdoor activities, you could ride the gondola that goes up the mountain, and you could do some shopping the village's (rather expensive) shops (http://www.tremblant.ca). Saint-Sauveur is a charming little town with nice restaurants and specialty shops - much smaller, but I like the atmosphere of the place (http://www.saint-sauveur.net). Finally, the Oka National Park is a nice play to go for a walk in nature. I'd suggest renting a car if you go there as the drive is punctuated with nice, small villages. To get to Mont-Tremblant or Saint-Sauveur, you can rent a car or catch a bus from Montreal (http://www.galland-bus.com). Hope this helps! Isa

Hi,
I absoultley suggest you to rent a car to not waste your time because you have only one day, Laurentians is a beaitiful region, with its nature and charming villages, for one day I suggest you to pass by Saint-sauveur village which is very charming and continue to Mont-tremblant village/resort which is very nice, lot of accomodations availables, and you have the mountain and many trails to do hiking and go to the top of the mountain to admire a best view of the area. Amazing! :) Hope it helps, K
