Does anyone know the most economical way to get to PNG from mainland Australia. Ive found a couple of airlines but they seem very expensive.

Seriously though, it depends on where you fly from. There are nearly always cheap flights through flightcenter on Air Niugini. I fly regularly return from Cairns to Port Moresby to Alotau in Milne bay for under $1,000 AUD. That's really about the cheapest (semi-reliable) way to get there.

Airlines PNG often have cheap flights, but they seem to cancel flights more than they actually fly. (Air Niugini cancel some too).
