Hi everyone, I'd like a holiday in the Canaries and wonder if anyone can recommend a good resort and/or accommodation for a woman travelling alone. I want a peaceful and relaxing holiday but not to be isolated or the only single among loads of couples/families/singles groups. Am in my 40s. Just want to escape the dark days of N European winter for a week or so! Thanks for your ideas.

For the resort i would recommend Los Gigantes. A very pretty & quiet place with a few bars & shops & at the same time close enough to drive to Playa de las America's or Los Cristianos if you fancy a day there. Also not far from mount teide if you wanted a trip there. Only drawback is it's quite a distance from the airport (south) if you are not hiring a car or if you arrive in the dark.

I travelled alone (male 40`s) to Tenerife in Jan and stayed in Chipeque apts in Los Christianos very nice but a bit far out, I booked through owners direct for an a studio (£165, I think it is cheaper now £125) for the week, you could also try Alpharooms for a hotel (recommended).
