| Jerusalem | Cheap Acommodation in Jerusalem Posted: Tue January 8, 2008 10:31 AM UTC
Hello,
I will be travelling to Jerusalem in April with my husband and 3 children. We are on a tight budget and wondered if anyone could reccommend a cheap hotel/ hostel that would be suitable with children, or even better an appartment that could be rented for a week? I'd also appreciate any tips on what to do and where to go with the children. Thankyou! Siobhan |

Hi, be aware that a cheap accomodation in Jerusalem may mean the bad conditions also. Better to find a new friend in Israel forums, he/she will assist you,I hope.
I was in Israel last year and our experienced trip manager said no good words about cheap hotels in Jerusalem. Israel is an expensive experience, btw. My travel photos are here: http://pilt.delfi.ee/en/user/21403/ All the best!

I do not know when in April you plan on being in Israel. However, be aware that the holiday of Passover takes place in April. It is celebrated in Israel from April 19 ( at sundown) -April 27 ( sundown) However, many visitors from outside Israel will probably arrive no later than Thursday Aril 17 and stay until the 29 or 30. Hotels are going to be booked solid and prices will be high. In addition, many if not most restaurants will be offereing Passover food menus. Are you going specifically for Passover--if so it is late to find a place to stay, if you are not going for Passover I hope you are avoiding these dates.

First of all I agree absolutely that you should avoid the Passover holiday season unless that is the specific reason you are visiting Israel.
Otherwise for accommodations try: http://www.hostels-israel.com/ http://www.iyha.org.il/eng/ http://www.hostelz.com/hostel/23437-Beit-Shmuel http://www.o-niv.com/bakah/index.htm Good luck! For the children the Jerusalem Zoo, The [hands-on] Bloomfield Science Museum, and the Israel Museum, especially the Youth Wing are places to start. Welcome and Enjoy!
