Courmayeur How to get to Montreux from Valle d'Aosta
Posted: Mon January 7, 2008 03:25 PM UTC
Dear VTers

I will be in Courmayeur, Valle d'Aosta for 3 days on a work retreat. Since I don't ski and since I'm a big fan of Freddie Mercury, I thought about taking a day trip to Montreux to visit his memorial statue. The trouble is I can't seem to find much travel information. I know there are bus services which go from Courmayeur to Turin, Milan and Genoa but that's all the information I have! Does anybody have any idea of what would be the quickest/easiest way to reach Montreux? I've thought about getting a taxi to a station then getting a train from there if that would be easier (although it's definitely more expensive). Any information would be fantastic. Thanks!

Ok, I just realised how long it would take me to reach Montreux from Turin/Milan/Genoa so I'm guessing a train from Geneva would be best (takes about 1 hour 20 minutes). Does anyone have any idea how I can reach Geneva from Courmayeur?

There used to be a service with a firm called Resort Hoppa that runs shuttles from Geneva Airport to Courmayeur. I should think if you google 'Resort Hoppa'
you may find something. You may even be able to prebook.
Good luck

2 ways. i'm not sure of the timings of everything, you'll have to check online.

1)
Bus Cormayeur-Aosta
Bus Aosta-Martigny
Train Martigny-Montreux

2)
Bus Cormayeur-Chamonix
Train Chamonix-Le Chatelard
Train Le Chatelard-Martigny
Train Martigny-Montreux

domenicococozza - thank you - I just researched Resort Hoppa but unfortuantely they only have private transfers available for £170!

gfinesilver - also thank you. I'm trying to research trains/busses now - do you know of any website addresses please? Thank you very much
