| Bandung | Bandung tours Posted: Mon January 7, 2008 06:42 AM UTC
I plan to tour parts of Bandung on the 28 Jan 2008. However after looking thru some of the forum discussions, I am kind of confused with the rates. How much would it cost for a day tour for 2 person to visit the main tourist areas ? Some tour agency quoted Rp 450K per person (Rp 900K for 2 pax !!, include driver, petrol, toll, parking). Isnt this expensive ? Are there bus trips from the city to tour the tourist sites rather than hiring a car for 2 ? Is there any VT forumer in Bandung who would like to share the cost of the tour ?

Dear Subram
I chartered a taxi during my last trip to Bandung which cost me IDR400,000 per day that includes drivers & petrol. The taxi is 'ours' throughout the day i.e. 12 hours. If you start at 8 am the taxi + the driver is yours until 8 pm. With exception when we went to Tangkuban Perahu & Sari Ater Hot Spring we have to add another IDR40,000 for the petrol. Dont forget to save aside for parking fee which is very minimal. All the entrance fees to the tourist area are paid as we enter which is not that much. If you know where you want to go, I would recommend you to contact the guy who assist us during our last visit. He is rather flexible in terms of the hours. He is very good and know all the short cuts to beat the city traffic. I dont know from which country you are from so I'm not sure whether there will be a language barrier if I were to recommend him. If you dont have any idea where to go, I suggest you to check some of the Travel Pages here for ideas. That was how I go about it. Roughly, the entrance fees are as follows (provided that there are no changes since my last visit) - Sari Ater Hot Spring = IDR12,000/pax : u can spend the whole day here. - Strawberry Park = IDR5,000/pax - Tangkuban Perahu = IDR35,000/pax, Indonesian pays IDR10,000/pax only Shoot me an email if you want the contact number of my previous chartered taxi driver. He speaks Indonesian with very limited English though. Hope this helps. Check my Bandung page for other info. Bear in mind that I'm yet to fully update the page

Hai Zue, I am from KL too. I speak good Malay so I wont have problems communicating with the Indonesians. I would be much obliged if you could suggest the name of the driver that you employed during your visit. The rates I have been quoted are for per person which I find it expensive if 2 people were to travel. I have looked thru the web but dont seem to find coach/bus tour agencies in Bandung doing day trips ( which I assume could be cheaper).
Thanks a million.

I've also chartered a taxi for the entire day. We started at about 9am and finished about 8pm. All in expenses cost us less than Rp 400,000. We even travelled all the way to Gunung Tangkuban Prahu and later have dinner at Kampung Daun restaurant.
If you would like to check out the cab driver that I used, his name is Bapak Atang. His number is 081322853595. He also drives a blue bird cab.
