please share any tips and advice about: - the best way to get from amman to petra: taxi or bus? what is the cost for each - to go from petra to jerusalem: should i go straight from petra, or first return to amman and then go from there? i am travelling on my canadian passport but i must avoid an israeli stamp because i will be returning to the gulf. which bridge crossing is the best. whats the best way to get from petra to jerusalem please reply soon thanks so much |

When you are in Amman I hope you will take time to visit Madaba and/or Jerash.

The cost of bus to petra is 6 JD as for a taxi it's more than 50JD
You can either go to Jerusalem through Aqaba/Eilat border or from Amman King Hussein bridge, I have no idea how much it cost from aqaba but from amman u can take a shared car for around 6 JD to the bridge and then the bus to Jerusalemn for roughly the same amount. As for Passport stamp u can ask at the border to put the stamp on a separate peice of paper but it is up to them to accept. enjoy your trip

Thanks all
- How long is the bus ride between Amman-Petra - Do tickets have to be bought in advance? - Do the buses depart and arrive at a reliable time schedule, or is it not dependable - Whats the earliest bus leaving from Petra? If I leave early on the first bus, will I be able to get back to Amman and cross over to the Allenby crossing before 11am?? Thanks again!! ps- yes we plan to spend 2 days in Madaba after our return from Jerusalem

Your only option is to enter Israel via the King Hussein Bridge crossing. There, the Jordanians will not stamp your passport and, if you ask nicely, there is an excellent chance the Israelis will stamp a separate piece of paper and not your passport. At both the northern crossing (Sheikh Hussein) and the southern one (Eilat-Aqaba) the Jordanians will definitely stamp your passport - unequivocal proof of having been to Israel, even if you don't have an Israeli stamp in your passport.
Please remember that, although in the vast majority of cases your passport will not be stamped by the Israelis at the King Hussein Bridge, there is always the chance that they may - for whatever reason. If it is absolutely crucial that no Israeli stamp be in your passport, then I'd advise you to visit Israel at the end of your stay in Kuwait.
