| Estado de Chihuahua | Flying to Chihuahua, getting Chepe to Divisadero and back to Creel Posted: Sat January 5, 2008 05:36 PM UTC
Hi everyone
Just wondering if you have any tips on the following proposed journey Day 1 - Fly from Merida to Mexico City then on to Chihuahua (seems you have to go via Mexico City to get to Chihuahua). We'd arrive around 10pm and would need to be at the train station at either 6am (1st class) or 7am (2nd class) the next morning to get the Chepe. Does anyone know what hotel would be our best bet given such a late arrival and early start? I've searched in vain on the net for a map of Chihuahua city to get an idea of how far the airport, city hotels and train station are apart. We then get the Chepe the next day, stop off in Divisadero for a while to look around (time is limited) then get train back to Creel that afternoon. Third day to be spent in Creel, maybe get a guided trip around the area. Then we fly back to Mexico City on the fourth day. We're not sure how practical some of this is but particularly the late arrival in Chihuahua and early start the following morning, and don't want to find ourselves lost late at night not knowing the area. Thanks! |

Dont worry about the transport bettwn Airport to the Hotel in Chihuahua just take a Taxi.
Chihuahua is not a large city, from the airport to the center of the city is just 15 min at 10 pm (no traffic), For HOTEL depends on the $$ you are willing to pay, as for less 1 nigth go to "HOTEL Campanario" +/- $45 USD is just a few blocks from the center of the city and close to the Train station. The train just stops 15 min in divisadero. If you stay at Divisidero walk to "Piedra Volada" is a great view. In Creel you can visit Cusarare waterfalls, Arareko Lake, Tarahumara Caves in the hotels in Creel can arrange trips to those places. Send me a msg if need help in Chihuahua.
