| Chiang Mai | Hotel Recommendation for a Reunion Posted: Sat January 5, 2008 04:28 PM UTC
Greetings!
We are planning to have a re-union in Chiang Mai from December 18-21, 2008 in Chiang Mai. Roughly 30 rooms for 50 people. Looking for clean, airy, cheerful hotel. Price range $75-125/night. People are in the 50-60 years of age. Would appreciate some recommendations. Regards, SKG |

I would recommend the Centara Duangtawan hotel, which is situated very close to the night market and has plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. It has about 20 floors and offers good views of the city and surrounding areas. The staff are pleasant and the buffet breakfast caters for most tastes. Cost per night is around $50 per room, not per person, if you book on-line. I would recommend using Agado, which also gives points, which can be converted to cash discounts on future bookings. What is more, this hotel is below your budget. They also have large rooms which I am sure could be booked for a private function. I always stay there.

There's a +340 room, Le Meridien Hotel at the main Night Bazaar intersection, which is scheduled to open in APRIL.
I KNOW they are currently training their staff, and I'm sure by your December dates, ALL the bugs will be worked out, and it truly will be one of Chiang Mai’s better 5-star hotel. I also know it is on the Le Meridien's website, but I don't know what the rates will be in the high-season. --------- NOTE: If I was arranging reservations for 30 rooms, I would be looking for a 'GROUP RATE', and would be dealing ONLY with the Sales Department of whichever hotel I decided to go with. best of luck, jon

Hi, I saw the other 2 replies...do you know you dont need to spend this much money..but if you want to a hotel for 100 dollars a night would give you something very very nice and exclusive. What are you wanting to do? If you all just want to be together most of the time, relaxing, and have some activity, then I recommend you go to the website, sawadee(dotcom) or asiahotel(dotcom) ....there are some fantastic beautiful thai style bungalow resorts, not far from the city center, that will accomodate you with mini vans into the city and such...this experience would be fantastic and give you the privacy and the true feeling of being in Thai land, as they are filled with floral gardens, birds and cater only to you. If you want to be in the core of chiang mai city, then I recommend you get a hotel for 30 to 40 dollars, this is plenty of money and will be a nice, clean, air conditioned room, in a safe location, however, it will be among the hustle and bustle of the city...I agree, you should go through the sales department for your booking and get a group rate, or meals of some type and transportation included if you pay 100 dollars a day per person. Good luck and enjoy...I live in North thailand in Pai...my name is Sage, I am from Canada
