Hi! What is the taxi fare from Penang Airport to Bayview GeorgeTown Hotel in Farquhar Street?

Do they run the meter or I have to bargain the price first before getting into the taxi?

HI Amy,

There's a taxi counter on your right when you exit the Arrival Hall. Just tell them your destination and pay at the counter. I can't remember exactly how much, but it should be RM38 or RM40 to Bayview Georgetown.
You do not have to bargain at the airport if you buy your taxi coupon from the Taxi Counter.
Taxis in town do not run by meters. So you should have a rough idea of how much to pay for a trip. The general guide for taxi fare around town is:
1)getting around town from point A to B should cost you around RM8. For example from your Hotel to Komtar or Pragnin Mall, it will be RM8.
2)from your hotel to Gurney Plaza, that will be around RM12.
3)From your hotel to Batu Ferringhi it will be RM25 or RM30.

If you want to hire a taxi for your sightseeing around Penang, you can do so, but it will cost you RM25 per hour, and you have to hire the taxi for a minimum of 4 hours.

Oh yes, you can easily can a cab from the taxi stand outside Bayview...

The easiest way of not getting cheat by taxi at Penang airport is buy taxi coupon in Penang airport.

Once in Penang, if you travel around town, try to use RapidBus instead of others bus. Take taxi if you travel outside of your hotel range(in your case, places like Kek Lok Si and Batu Ferringhi if very far from your hotel while Cheong Fat Tze mansion is just opposite your hotel)

Usually it cost around 38 MYR (economy taxi NOT Limo).

The price range from MYR30-50. Since the taxi don't use meter, you need to bargain the price.
