http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml will give you timetables and fares for buses as well as trains (very efficient site).

http://www.neuschwanstein.de/english/service/guided_tours.htm tells you about guided tours. I imagine you get a choice of times when you reserve your ticket; no doubt timings will vary according to the number of expected visitors.

from ticket center you may walk through the forest up to Neuschwanstein which takes about 20 - 30 minutes on a paved road. There is no bus directly to Neuschwanstein, only horse carriages. Bus is up to Marienbrücke, the view from there to Neuschwanstein is surely the highlight of all. From Marienbrücke you can walk down to Neuschwanstein in a few minutes. In February it might be slippery but if it gets really more problematic I think they close the path. But since there are always huge crwods of tourists there I imagine that they do the best to keep all principal walks clear.

The guided tour through Neuschwanstein is only 35 minutes and there are enough English tours. No Photos!

Visit the following website: www.hohenschwangau.de. Click on the English flag on the left side, about 2/3 down the page for translation. Gary

1. Bus from Fussen to Schloss Neuschwanstein
a. How much is the bus fare?
RVO bus fares are by distance. Not totally sure of the distance, but it will be either
3-4 km EUR 1,40
5-6 km EUR 1,80
In case you travel on a Bavaria Ticket to Füssen, this ticket does also cover the buses to Hohenschwangau.

b. Do I just buy the bus ticket aboard from the bus driver?
Yes.

2. Bus from Hohenschwangau (ticket center) to Neuschwanstein
a. How often does the bus departs for Neuschwanstein?
Don't know. Not a public bus with official schedule.
b. Do I just buy the bus ticket aboard from the bus driver?
Yes.
c. Does the bus operates in winter (February)?
Depending on weather conditions. See
http://www.hohenschwangau.de/553.0.html
for more infos and prices.
My recommendation: as long as you don't have health problems: walk up to the castle. Castles have been designed to make a certain impression on their visitors - something you can only experience if you walk (or ride) up. You will miss this if you travel by bus to the "rear door". That's actually true for all hill top castles.

3. Guided tour of Neuschwanstein
a. What are the available timing throughtout the day of the English guided tour
of Neuschwanstein?
Depends on demand. See
http://www.hohenschwangau.de/555.0.html
for the opening hours.

Hi

Many thanks to all for your advise.

I did check the DB website, unfortunately there is only schedule of the buses from Fussen to Howenschwangau with no fare shown.

Neither am I able to get the guided tour time available nor how often the shuttle bus departs from the ticket center to Schloss Neuschwanstein when I visit the Howenschwangau and Neuschwanstein web sites.

Will check when I am there then.
