Hi I am interested in making the journey from Eilat to Cairo.

As far as I understand I will need to obtain a passport from the Egyptian consulate, cross over the border and take a bus or taxi from Taba to Cairo.

I would really appreciate it if people could answer a few of my questions.

1) How do I get from the border crossing to the bus station that will take me to Cairo?

2) How much can I expect to pay for the bus fair?

3) Is it a better idea to take a taxi?

4) What's the number and name of the bus station?

5) What's the timetable?

6) How do I get from Cairo by bus back to Taba?

All answers are much appreciated.

I'm trying to do the same thing, no good info on the net... why? why? hehe (desperation after browsin and reading my lonely planet guide for 1 hr) I'll keep on looking and will ask friends... Please post back if u've done the trip already and have some answers, I'm traveling alone and don't want to be stranded in the middle of the dessert in winter

From the research Ive done the last few days is that Mazada runs a weekly nighttime bus from Jerusalem once a week on Mondays approx cost $100 (appears this price is one-way). Also appears there are maybe three buses daily leaving Taba... dont know the time - dont know the cost. Another option is to hire a taxi to drive from Taba to Cairo - cost depends on how many are sharing the taxi. This is all recent research since a friend and I are planning on going on Feb 1 for a few days... more adventure than vacation. Also from what Ive been told the bus is not the most comfortable, leaves when it is full so doesnt really stick to a schedule and is probably stinky. ... and if anyone out there has travel tips for single females traveling the middle east pass them my way.
