| Manali | Hotels in Manali-January 2008 Posted: Thu January 3, 2008 10:03 AM UTC
Hi,
We are planning to visit Manali in a few weeks. Can anyone recommend any hotels that are open with heating this time of year? Our budget is 850 Rupees We were looking to stay in Old Manali originally but understand it will be closed. We know that it will be very cold (we have just spent a year in Asia). Thanks |

hi!!!
about 2 years ago I stayed in Manali, in VASHIST, beginning of March, I dont know if this is around the time your thinking of going there. Yes it was cold, but being in Vashist which is only up the road from Manali city it was perfect because the hot spring was there and it was perfect having a bath almost everyday in this natural hot spring......and one day in March in snowed beautiful!!!! I stayed in Valley view Hotel ( or HOtel Valley view) it was great, i actually stayed in this hotel twice in a row, 2 consecutive years, i dont know who runs it now.... but it was absolutely amazing time there.....with restaurant and perfect rooftop restaurant that overlooks the valley... going up to vashist, the first hotel ( i think) on your left).... the heating was not there... i dont know now.... Having travelled in most parts of India the first time for a whole year... Vashist comes first as my favourite.... and second... is Agonda Beach in Goa in Harmony Hives where i stayed for 6 months (owned by Forget me Not Hotel in lonely planet guide).... when your in Vashist.... say hello to the Hot Spring for me and the town itself....amazing place... I hope you will enjoy your stay there as I did.... if you have the time you can email me on freeadventure04@yahoo.com.au and tell me your view on Vashist....

Thanks for your reply. We are in Manali now.
Because of the time of year, accommodation is only available in Manali. We are planning to come back here in warmer times when more places are open. I have put tips on for accommodation options for Manali. Thanks Tracey
