Punta Cana Best Value All-Inclusive
Posted: Thu January 3, 2008 02:59 AM UTC
I'm looking to find an all-inclusive in the D.R. for this coming February. I'll be traveling w/my wife & our 11 y.o. daughter. I've been told Punta Cana is my best bet. Any recommendations on the best value in this area?
Thanks in advance.

Check out www.debbiesdominicantravel.com for feedback on Dominican hotels. In my opinion, pretty much any hotel will do but the downside of Punta Cana is that it's a tourist town and there's no public transportation you can take if you want to venture on your own, only taxis and excursions from the hotels. Two excursions that I might recommend are Manatí Park Bavaro (www.manatipark.com) and Isla Saona.

Other areas for you guys to explore might be Sosúa/Puerto Plata or Juan Dolio if you want to stay at the beach. Both areas are cheaper than Punta Cana but more fun (in my opinion). If you stay in Juan Dolio you can take a day trip to Santo Domingo.

Some happenings in February: every Sunday in La Vega city: La Vega carnival. Every Sunday between Jan 15 and Mar 15 in Samaná city and environs: Whale watching. Humpback whales come to the warm waters of the Atlantic ocean to mate and give birth to their young.

I had good luck with Bahia Principe in Punta Cana in late 2006 and did tip pages on it. The value and accomodations were both reasonable and acceptable.

I stayed at the Ocean Bavaro back in Feb. 2006 and found it to be a perfect place to stay for what I wanted to pay. If your used to the higher end resort you will be letdown, but if your used to taking budget vacations this resort will far surpass your expectations. Check out my Punta Cana page for a full review and websites to go to find the best rates.

I would recommend any hotel of the Barcelo complex. Their animation is good for kids. (www.barcelo.com). Punta Cana have beautiful beaches and like other VT member said you can take mini trips to Isla Saona and Manati Park. I do prefer the east coast (Bavaro & Punta Cana) than going to the North (Puerto Plata).

If you want to see other resorts in the area go to www.expedia.com and search for the code PUJ= punta cana.. good thing is an airport 5 to 10 min drive to your resort.

Good luck!

Hi there,

i was in Punta Cana for seven times, this year again :) Last year i spend my holidays in the majestic, two years ago in the Ocean Sand & Ocean Blue. I would highly recommend the Majestic Colonial to you. Everything is fantastic there. Nice food, very spacious, comfortable rooms , a very pretty ground and nice stuff.
