Montevideo Montevideo boat times and locations

Is it possible to catch a boat from anywhere other than Buenos Aires. We are in Mar del Plata and were wondering if we could just head up the coast and maybe catch a boat from La Plata or somewhere without having to go back to BA

Grab a map. Take a look at the locations of Mar del Plata y Montevideo. That would nearly be an ocean voyage. The services available are high speed river ferries from Bs As to Colonia and Montevideo and slow boat to Colonia. Upriver there are smaller boats offering service from Tigre to Carmelo, Uruguay. Even to fly you have to pass through Bs As.

As previous post said, ferry services only from Bs.As. to Mvd and/or Colonia and from Tigre to Carmelo with bus connection to MVD.
