planning on taking a cruise from Santiago, Chile around the Horn ending in Buenos Aires sometime November, 2008. What is the weather like then and how is it for sailing around the Horn. Is there lots of turbulence? Has anyone done a cruise like this?

November will be early summer in Ushuaia. I cant say that I was on a boat that rounded the horn, but having been on my fair share of oceangoing boats, plan on the temperatures to be cooler than the mainland and heavier winds.

Hi - we did the same cruise in reverse but it was in March so I can't help you with the weather in Nov. (We had smooth sailing.) Check the boards and reviews on www.cruisecritic.com where you should be able to get the information you're looking for. It's a great cruise! Happy Sailing!

Hi - I see you're from NY. That's where I'm from originally (born and raised on LI). Have been living in India 4+ years now. It's quite an experience. Haven't been to Varanasi yet, but have done a lot of traveling around India. I hope you had a good time! Don't know if you have gotten around to posting tips yet, but I'd enjoy reading them.

We're planning now for a trip back to SA. I loved Ushuaia - it's really one of my most favorite places in the world. Just gorgeous! This time we'll be doing an Antarctica trip from Ushuaia, a Galapagos trip, an Amazon trip, and land time in Peru and Ecuador.

We have an upcoming cruise ourselves in April to Egypt/Holy Land. I haven't been on a cruise since I left the US so I'm really looking forward to it.
