Trains from Hamburg to Odense, Denmark

I am flying into Hamburg Airport and am planning to take a train to Odense, Denmark.

I need advise on how to buy a return train ticket. Does anyone know which website I can use to book a ticket and how do I get from the Airport to the train station? How long would this journey take?

Also, I need to find out train timetables please.

Many thanks for this. The train fares are quite pricey. So now we will compare prices between buses and planes.

What about booking for buses and planes between Hamburg and Odense, Denmark?

Please let me know of some suitable website/s.

It looks like you can get a ticket Hamburg Odense for as low as 29 € at Bahn.de (the German state railroads). The site is very easy to use.

The Danish bus company Abildskou has connections between Hamburg airport and Århus in Denmark. I think you can get of in Vejle and change to a Danish regional train.

... About planes. I doubt there is any connection between Hamburg and Odense. Since Odense is less that 1.5 hour by train from Copenhagen Airport the local airport is very small and hardly serves any routes.

It's a bit cheesy but it's possible to travel by rail for 29 Euro - you will need to change trains but there are 3 connections daily with 29 Euro Internet special and one extra departing Hamburg in an ungodly hour (03:10 AM).

You will need to reserve tickets in advance on german rail web site and they will send you the tickets for free from Germany. Otherwise the regular tickets are indeed expensive.

If you already have your airplane tickets don't wait longer for the train - it will take ca. a week to get them in the mail. You also can print them out, but I prefer to get the "real" ticket.

To get the EUR 29,00 special tickets you have to query from "Hamburg Hbf" as otherwise they won't be shown.

Fastest connection from Hamburg Airport to Hamburg Hbf is the Jasper Airport Express. Single ticket is EUR 5,00. The DB timetable has these buses as option from the airport to the Hauptbahnhof (Hbf - the main railway station).
