| Havana | Where to stay? Posted: Sun December 30, 2007 05:15 PM UTC
Hi, all!
I am looking for casa particular in Havana and would like to know the best place to stay the nigh. Should it be Vedado district or old Havana? what would you suggest? Perhaps you can share your experience with particular casa in Havana where you had great experience. Thank you! |

I just returned from Cuba last weekend and stayed in a casa in the Vedado area.
It is in a very nice neighborhood and withing walking distance to a lot of sites. The women of the house, Celia and daughter Barbara, were warm and friendly hosts. They do not speak English, however my cousin is fluent in Spanish, which was a big help. They charge $25 CUC for a room and an extra $3 CUC if you would like breakfast (quite good). I felt very safe and comfortable with them and will stay there again when I return. They were also helpful with calling for taxis, restaurant recommendations, etc. It is located on Paseo between 23rd and Zapata. (I have misplaced their card but will get you their address and phone number in the next few days) I checked out some of the casas in old Havana and they did not compare to Celia's place.

Are the prices for casa paticulares paid for per room or per person? For example, if the room has 2 beds in at 25CUC per night does that mean 12.5CUC per person?
Thanks.
