Hi!
You could try Pantai Air Manis (Air Manis beach) in Padang itself or better still go to the islands off Padang. Sorry can't recall the name, mybe local VTers from Padang/Indonesia can help on this. -m-

I think you will find you need to go to Nias island or the Mentawi Islands for surfing. Both areas require a ferry trip. Google both names and I am sure you will find loads of information and maybe some forums re surfing.
