| Gibraltar | Gibraltar Taxi Tour and Shopping Questions Posted: Sat December 29, 2007 11:12 PM UTC
I plan on visiting Gibraltar in May, 2008.
I will enter Gibraltar on foot from La Linea. Do Taxi Tours of Gibraltar's main sights operate on Sundays? Are Gibraltar's shops open on Sundays? Thanking you for a prompt reply, Ivan Friedman Ibf19ivy@comcast.net |

Everything is open and the taxis do run on Sundays.
The cable car also runs, but not when it is very windy.

Why spend the extra money on a taxi tour? The Rock is small enough to be navigated either by foot or by taking the readily available and easy buses.
Just pick up a couple papers/maps in the tourist information booth at the boarder crossing.

Opposite the airport (which is 200 meters from the boarder with Spain)is a bus stop,
bus number 9 takes you to the begining (casmates square) of the main street, bus number 4 runs parallel with the main street and takes you all the way to Europa point , which is the last point in Europe - looking over Africa via the bottom cable car station, bus number 10 (double decker) takes your around town and ends up half way up the main street below the piazza steps/british war memorial buses are cheap, and run every 10-15 min, the link below shows the routes, http://website.lineone.net/~wendyedwards/2004busroutes.html as for taxis, there before the bus stop, or half way up main street and at the top of main street they do offer a "tour" of gib with all the sites, its a bit pricey (all the entry fees are included), but theres no way you can walk round the top of the rock unless your an olympic 10,000m runner.....its just too much one more thing, on sundays only 2 or 3 shops open ........

Not many shops open on Sunday or on Saturday afternoon.
