Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Phnom Penh phnom penh to koh kong
Posted: Sat December 29, 2007 12:55 PM UTC
Can anyone help me, I understand that there is a bus that travels from Phnom Penh to Koh Kong. I would like to know how to find out the bus times and whether the bus arrives in time to cross the border that day.

I would be grateful for any info about this bus, or any other mean of transport that would get me there the same day.

Thank you

Janice

other than Capitol, you can take Mekong Express at the river front of Phnompenh. As the speed boat leaves Sihanoukville at 12 noon, I wonder if you can make it on the same day to Koh Kong, better stay at Sihanoukville for a day or 2, the beaches are gorgeous. The last bus from Trat to Bangkok will leave at 7 p.m., you might have to stay overnight at Trat.

Hi,
I did the P.Penh to Koh Khong last year(Dec); but I took a taxi from the Central Market. It cost me USD10 for a single seat. I would suggest you take up two seats and pay USD20 and sit in front of the taxi which is usually a Camry and the air-conditioner works!
Sometimes the guys will ask for more like USD25, but insist on paying UDS20. ITs much quicker and the journey takes aboout 8hours. And the road to Koh Khong is excellent!( brand new road ).
I dont think there is a bus service; but mini buses do go to K.Khong from the Central Market area. Just find out.
As a matter of fact you will have ample time to cross the border ( Had Lek in Cambodia). From this point take a mini bus to Trat ( cost about 100 bhat) and then from Trat bus terminal catch a bus to Bangkok; all in a day!
I fyou have anu further questions please ask.
Cheers,
Dino
