"new+orleans+weather" in your preferred search engine, then consulting the various links, will give you an objective forecast upon which you can dependably pack, plan and dress accordingly.

"How to dress" in Nola depends upon where you're going. "What goes on" there includes Bourbon St., where there's no dress code, to hotels, clubs and organized events where you'll need to look respectable. Jackson Square will be the focal point of the official city celebration. No dress code there. For naughty celebrations, go to Pat O'Brien's, Cat's Meow, and Big Bad Wolfe in the French Quarter.

So much goes on in New Orleans all the time, and more so for New Years Eve! Most of the major hotels in the Quarter will have their parties, which can run upwards of $150 per couple. There are also lots of FREE festivities - all the clubs on Bourbon Street will be hopping, and you are free to go from one to the other all night long. There is free music in Jackson Square, and fireworks on the Mississippi River at midnight.

Weather is always iffy - check out www.wdsu.com or other local website for the forcast. I've been there in coats and scarves, and I've been there in jeans and a short sleeved shirt. But regardless of the weather, come on down - it's ALWAYS a good time!

Most people know how to use a search engine. They come here to ask real people, as VT advertises : "Real Travelers - Real Info".
They don't come here and expect to be told to use a search engine. How rude!!

I side with TravellerMel, who cogently pointed out that Nola weather is "iffy" and one is well advised to go to objective sources, such as the one she cited, shortly before departure to get a forecast. What's "rude" about recommending seeking bona fide facts first rather than relying on opinions or subjective info?

"What's the weather like?" sometimes yields good insights but often it yields broad-brush generalities (though well intentioned) that aren't particularly useful.
