| Niagara Falls | Cheaper NY or Canada Posted: Wed December 26, 2007 02:25 AM UTC
My wife and I will be visiting the falls in late June. Where would it be cheaper to stay NY or Canada? Also with only a day or two available what would be the best things to do?

Not sure which is cheaper, but Candian side would be worth the extra in my opinion. It is simply a more pleasant Canadian side.
There are some good deals to be had if you book in advance see my recommendation for the Embassey Suites, Canada side. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/67c89/dd34c/3/

Because of the way the Canadian dollar is now, the US is cheaper to stay in. But it also offers virtually nothing in the way to see or do and is run-down and slightly dangerous, as the hotels are on the edge of a really bad area of town.
It's fairly easy to walk over the bridge into Canada every day, but I don't know that it's really worth the hassle. It certainly wouldn't be worth it if you had to drive in, especially since you would have to pay for parking on the Canadian side, which can be quite expensive. Doing the boat tour is the obvious choice on things to do. They're offered on both sides of the border. If you have kids, there are a lot of movie-oriented things on the Canadian side that they would enjoy. A bit of shopping as well at the outlet malls on the US side, since the VAT on the other side will make it pretty expensive.
