HI..

Taking advantage of cheap Ryanair flights via London, my friend and I will be in Mallorca from Feb 11 till Feb 15. I know this is not the best time to visit but since we have never been to Mallorca before, so this will be a new experience for us. Can anyone suggest an itinerary that will allow us to appreciate the natural beauty of Mallorca? Will be renting a car. What are the must not missed sights in Mallorca? Do we bargain with the hoteliers since it is off season? Thanks.

The west side is the quiet side of the island, but it's alot more natural too. There is a road that goes all the way around the west side, then you can cut across the island back to Palma. Scrutinize the maps and when you see something that looks like a beach, find the way to get there. You will be driving on a cliff, essentially, that drops down to the sea, so be careful. At somewhere near 10:00 if you're looking at the island like the face of a clock, there is a great little beach town with one restaurant by the sea that has some of the best, freshest food I've had in my life. Then on the Eastern side of the island are all the mega hotels and resorts with beaches and you may score a deal there, but the beaches won't be doing you much good in February. The east side to me was more flat and less interesting. Enjoy the scenery - it's spectacular!

Thanks for your detailed explanation-do you know the name of the beach town with a single restaurant? Plan to take a drive round the island and as you ahve suggested will drive westwards first then take a full circle eastwards then back to Palma. Have you been to Santorini in Greece-do you think Mallorca is similarly spectacular in the sights?
