| Naples | Hotel near train station Posted: Tue December 25, 2007 07:43 PM UTC
Hi everyone. Me and my husband are going to Naples June 30-July 3, 2008. We would really like something near the main train station that is not too expensive, since we will be in Italy for 3 weeks! We've been looking at hotel websites/reviews/etc., and there are quite a few that look good. However I am torn because they pretty much all have an equal amount of good and bad reviews. If anybody could recommend anything, we would appreciate it very much! Thank you!

I would recommend buying or borrowing the Rick Steves "Italy" guidebook. I know you're a first-time traveler, so you're just his target audience. He explains everything you'll need to know about traveling in Italy, from managing train connections to anticipating what a lunch and dinner menu will look like. The book is published annually (unlike say, Lonely Planet or Rough Guide) and has up-to-date recommendations for hotels and restaurants, as well as detailed walking tours and information on attractions. I honestly think that if you get the book and follow his recommendations, you won't have any problems. I stayed at hotels from the book in Milan, Verona, Sorrento and Amalfi and all were EXACTLY as described in the book. No surprises. It was definitely the best book investment I made while living in Italy.

Hotel Europa sea hotels is web site. 80e night, great breakfast you can go all day on it, just around the corner from station. Similar to out Motel 6 clean simple room, tv, air etc.
Be aware the area around the train station is not the best but as a plus this hotels top floor is local police training school. Easy for either bus or train transport area the Naples area.
