About 19km. In Roman times it was 8 miles!

Maybe it's better to go by train. Line Napoli-Sorrento stops at Ercolano, then, Pompeii: www.vesuviana.it; by car, check www.viamichelin.com

Hello,
You might just want to take the train. It is very easy. From the Naples station the first stop will be Ercolano. Just walk down the street until you get to the ruins. Its about a 10-15 minute walk. Then get back on the train to the pompeii scavi stop. From here it is about a 5 minute walk to the entrance. I don't know if you will be able to find parking near either site if you drive. I have never noticed a parking lot but then again, I always take the train. Good luck, Donna
