I'm looking into a trip to Palenque and am wondering the best airport to fly into for proximity? |

I took this one about seven years ago. You fly into Mexico City and catch a xfer to Tuxla Gutierrez. There are no non-top flights anywhere close to Palenque. From Tuxla you either take a cab or hop onto a local bus to the town next to Palenque, the name of which escapes me right now. Happy trails.

Villahermosa, Tabasco is the closest airport, and there's good bus connections between Villahermosa and Palenque. Tuxtla Gutierrez? That can't be a seriously-offered answer.

My mistake, and it was unintentional. Indeed, the connecting flite from Mexico City is to Villahermosa, not Tuxla Gutierrez - another town in the Chiapas I had visited at the very same time. I'm sure DJ would have figured this out himself and will know before long when ready to purchase the ticket. So, there's no need to be huffy and pedantic when going about correcting other VT member's honest mistake(s).
