Hi, I'm going to be in El Calafate in late February for 3 nights. For the two ful days we have there, we are planning to do the "Big Ice" and the Upsala Explorer / Estancia Cristina excursion.
I've been trying to book space for these ahead of time, but I haven't been getting responses from the emails I've sent to Hielo Y Aventura and via the Estancia Cristina website. - Do I need to get advanced booking for these, or can I just safely take care of this when I arrive in town the afternoon before? - If I need advance booking, does anyone know the best way to go about it? Do I need to go through a separate agency or something? Any help much appreciated, thanks. |

I enjoyed my trip to el Calafate, so hopefully you will. I did not make prior reservations. I simply booked with a tour while walking around the town. Booking the day before for a trip the next day.

We also did the same , we booked the same day for the Glaciers tour, early in the morning and one day in advance for the PM

february is high season and big ice can fill up. Hielo y Aventura only works with local agencies so that's probably why they're not responding. i'm not sure if the cristina boat is working again. there were some bureaucratic problems. i'd do advanced bookings at least for big ice. i can recommend an agency or make the bookings if you'd like.
