Is the Xochimilco open only on weekends or all day? If I go there by myself then do I need to find people to share the boat with me? I heard 300 pesos is the boatman's fee.

Hi there! Xochimilco lake is open all days. You can go by yourself. The rate for a bote its about 300 pesos, as you said. It depends on the size of the boat. You can go by yourself in a boat more or less small, which is good if you are going alone. You dont need to find people to go with you, but -of course- if you have company, you can divide the price among all of you. So, if you are going with friends or more people it will be cheaper, thats it. So, take care and enjoy xochimilco and eat some quesadillas!

We were there recently on a Sunday and it was almost too crowded - get there early or go weekdays! There are a few boat dock places, you can take the metro from centro and then there is a light rail line, about 40 mins total, then locals direct you to the dock...depending on your preference, its fun with friends but the boat guys know the area from generations and you might enjoy it yourself just talking with your boatman...there are various routes too, kms of canals, can go more "ecological" or more with the mainstream to hear music, eat and drink alot Have fun!

I recommend going during the day as it gets quite rowdy at night. It is a lot of fun and as someone else said, eat some quesadillas!
